Well, the name Silver Fox came from a TV show called Wipeout, where one of the contestants, who had silver hair, was nicknamed that by the MC's. Right there and then is when I started to use that name for my online name.
Not only that, but the name Gray Fox was overused by many games. (Oblivion, Metal Gear Solid, etc.)
