Silkroad & XFire
2010-02-24 11:04 PM PST
Wanted to try Silkroad because it looked popular? The only reason it's so high is either because of personal shops, or the fact that it doesnt properly tell Xfire that it's shutdown. Oh, that and the graphics engine is T R A S H.

League of Legends

There's a reason that this is one of the most played free games on XFire...its fun! You can play bot matches and practices before getting into the real matches, and I like it much better than HoN. You aren't forced to kill your own units to make the other hero lose XP, so it plays more like warfare tactics.

Fallen Earth update
2009-11-27 11:03 PM PST
Bought it on the Steam sale yesterday, this will be my staple game for some time to come. If you like FPS in your MMO, it would do you good to buy a copy and see me in the wasteland!

Fallen Earth = Best MMO Ever
2009-11-07 12:50 AM PST
Yeah, you heard that right, it's the best MMO ever. I compared it to my other games to say why:

FE vs DDO: Open world instead of instanced, more targeting needed in combat (so even MORE action, not only a reticle highlight but within the reticle even in melee fighting), more fun setting and better story (to me).

FE vs Combat Arms: FE is very fps-centric, about as close to a modern MMOFPS as is possible, instead of a lobby-based p2p fps. Have not played FE's PVP yet, but from videos it looks stellar.

FE vs Runes of Magic: No contest.

FE vs Atlantica Online: Now, this is apples vs. oranges, but based on storyline, setting, and world layout alone, leaving out the gameplay comparison (not anywhere near the same type of gameplay), it's much, much better.

FE vs Guild Wars: Open world instead of instanced, combat based gameplay instead of highlight-target-kill type stuff. Story in both is very good, however the FE story seems a lot more engaging in the world at large with more interesting quest lines.

FE vs Dungeon Fighter Online: Apples to oranges here again, however DFO has no story for the most part, opting for no-frills ass-kicking. Both games are fun, FE has better leveling, more immersive, and is more fun (to me)

FE vs Requiem: If Requiem had an action-based combat system requiring more twitch skill, it would be up there with DDO and FE, but it doesn't. Story is much better in FE, of course.

FE vs WoW, EvE, EQ, The Realm, every mmo i've ever played: No contest. FE FTW.

Best free MMOs
2009-09-12 9:06 PM PDT
Here are the best free MMOs, in no particular order (except DDO is the best!)

Dungeons and Drageons Online www.ddo.com
Dungeon Fighter Online dungeonfighter.nexon.net
Lunia lunia.ijji.com
Requiem www.playrequiem.com
Runes of Magic www.runesofmagic.com
Atlantica Online www.playatlantica.com
Ace Online aceonline.subagames.com

Most of these are either heavily action-oriented (DDO, Lunia, Ace), strategy based (Atlantica), have excellent graphical style and design (Requiem), or simply a decent free WoW-clone (Runes).

Dungeons and Drageons Online is my fave so far, I played the closed beta, and then played in the headstart and still playing now...it is quickly becoming my most played game!
