Well I got up on Monday to find my computer still running from the night before. Windows was nice enough to not let it shut down properly. So I fixed the error on the screen and believed the computer to turn off.
Later in the morning my wife said the power was out in the office and sure enough a circuit breaker was blown. I rest it and everything was back to normal or so I thought. It turns out something went wrong in the existing power supply of my main rig. It was plugged through a very nice surge suppressor but that did not stop the power supply from going bad.
In this I had a chance to upgrade my power supply, I found a nice 1000W Antec on sale at Microcenter and that took care of the problem.
