Any time during play, you can customize your kit. The changed equipment will
be in your inventory on next spawn. (1)

When you are playing as a squad, you will see the Field Upgrade Bar in the
upper-left corner. When this is full, squad members are eligible to select a
Field Upgrade. (2)

Field Upgrades are temporary unlocks. Once unlocked, these can be used as long
as you stay on the server. (3)

The three Squad Leader Unlocks can only be used by Squad Leaders. Anyone can
unlock them, but only Squad Leaders with a squad of a certain size are allowed
to use them. (4)

The five player ability unlocks can be unlocked as any other weapon or item.
The difference is, once unlocked they are always equipped and not a part of
the customization. (5)

On the Kit Customization screen - you can choose between light or heavy body
armor. The heavy armor reduces the sprint capacity, so it's not all good with
more protection. (6)

When you are promoted during a round, you can choose the unlock at the End of
Round or - if you are in a hurry to get back to the fighting - wait and do
this later on in BFHQ. (7)

Do not forget to check out the training film on the Titans. The film will
guide you through the tactical information on the Soldier HUD, the rules of
the battle, and provide valuable tips on how to best bring down the enemy
Titan. (

Anytime during a round, you can press ESCAPE to get to the menu. Once you are
done, just press ESCAPE again and you will return to the fight. (9)

Getting recommended for badges, ribbons and pins will help your Soldier's
progress up in rank. (10)

Watch out for those Sentry Guns support troops can deploy. You do not want to
get too close before finding out if they were deployed by friendlies or enemy
troops. (11)

You do not have to choose an unlock right away. Your unlock credits will be
available in the Unlocks section of BFHQ. (12)

The Leaderboards in BFHQ show the best of the best. They can be filtered to
show just...

Call of Duty 4: Tips and Tricks
Are you answering the call of duty? You're on your own for single player, which is a wild ride where you won't need our help. But multiplayer Call of Duty 4 can be brutal. Here are a few of the tricks that separate the vets from the rookies.

1) Faster, carbine, kill, kill!

The little bar graphs for each weapon don't tell the full story. For instance, the M4 Carbine might not have stats as good as the starting weapons, but its fully automatic fire is an invaluable asset. Believe it or not, the wasted milliseconds between the M16's burst fire can make all the difference. Similarly, the R700 sniper rifle might look like a no-brainer over the previous guns, but consider that it's a bolt-action weapon with a 4-round clip. You better make every shot count.

2) You can run, but you can't hide

Walls, schmalls! Guns can punch through solid materials in Call of Duty 4, particularly the LMGs fired by someone with the Deep Impact perk. Don't forget to shoot through walls, particularly on game modes where players have to defend a fixed position. Soften up a defended HQ or Domination site from the outside. And even if you're a small-caliber class, you can use fixed gun emplacements to take out snipers who think they've ducked behind cover. Backlot, for instance, is a great map for sweeping through walls with its fixed guns.

3) Ditch the pistol

Once you get good enough to stay alive over the course of a few kills, regularly earning UAVs and air strikes, ammo for your primary weapon will be a limiting factor. Keep in mind you can swap out your pistol to pick up a killed enemy's primary weapon. If you get in the habit of doing this early on, you might never need the Bandolier (extra ammo) or Overkill (start with two primary weapons) perks.

4) In the boom boom room

Call of Duty 4 might seem too fast for C4, which has to be planted and detonated. But it's an invaluable part of all the non-deathmatch game modes. For instance, drop your C4 satchels into the headquarters area when you're...

New Player Guide for Battlefield 1942

Newbie. n00b. We've all been at the receiving end of these words when we first start to learn how to play a game online. It more or less means you've just started playing the game, and you are called this when other more experienced players sense you're a new player. They then use this term to try and put you down, (because they didn't get any help when they were just starting, and they were called the same thing, its like some ancient tradition.). So in a way, in their minds by calling you a newbie, n00b, whatever, they are basically telling themselves 'I am not a newbie anymore, and can call people it to get my small revenge!'. And it's unfortunate. So let's try to break this ugly trend.

What follows is a guide for all of you new players out there, but even experts should take the time to glaze over the tips, just as a small reminder. This guide will cover just the basics, but there's allot of 'basics' in this game, and trust me, once mastered, this game will reward you ten fold. This guide is designed around multiplayer online play. And you may even wish to write some of these tips on a piece of paper, you can easily look on the paper while you play in game, and once you're mastered the basics and can throw the paper out.

First Things First
The first thing you should do, before anything, is go into your controller options menu.
Don't be alarmed - there are A LOT of controls - and it's easy to feel overwhelmed. I myself was surprised by the amount of controls. I know the online battle is calling to you, but take the time to go over the lists. At first glance allot of the listed controls will not seem important, until you start to play and realize that they certainly are important. And the last thing you want is to have to jump back to the control menu in the middle of an all out Multiplayer war.

So in an attempt to lessen this 'shock' phase, here are some of the most asked questions about controls I hear in-game from frustrated new players.

Basic 'first time...

Know Your Enemy
Knowing is half the battle isn’t it? This can be true while playing bf1942 (hey, that rhymed). What I mean is simple. What would you be doing if you were on the other side of the field? What would you be doing if you were a sniper, engineer, or assault soldier? The odds are if you do it, someone else will do it also. Would you run along the tree line or straight up the front? Do you know a nice little path from one point to another? Then I’ll bet you, people on the other side know that way too. How about if you were a sniper? Where would you go? You can also learn a little about the enemy by watching what they and the others in the background are doing after they, err… kill you.

Checking the stats screen while you are in the game is also wise to do (tab key). How many snipers do the enemies have? Or, how about, how many anti-tank personnel there are? All of this can be useful knowledge on the battlefield. Knowing how many possible snipers are watching your every move, waiting for the perfect headshot, is useful intel.

Know the Landscape

Okay, this one is easy. Knowing how the map is set up is very important for many reasons. One of the main reasons is knowing where all the strategic points lay inside the map (bridges, choke points, ambush spots). You should know what bases are most important to capture and call home. These bases are usually in the middle of the map and house nice choke points and sniper playgrounds. Also, knowing what bases your enemy will most likely control before your team can, is also be helpful. This is so you can prepare an attack against these points with as many soldiers as possible, and so you know which direction to attack, as well as project which direction the enemy could come from.

Deeper inside the map theory are the little sweet spots and kill zones. If you’re a sniper, try to find somewhere high, off to the side, and where you know the enemy will be hiking close by, on, and in which directions. Stay away from wide-open spaces and on top of the highest
