I've been thinking of buying a console for quite a while now, the problem is there are so few games that I actually like the look of, being an RPG and Platform nut... Is it worth it just buying a PS3 just for a game in a series I like (Final Fantasy XIII) that's coming out soon? Is it worth buying a Wii because I like Mario and Zelda games? Or should I get an XBox 360 for whatever RPG or platformer titles they have on there?

A key consideration in my purchase of a console are several things: The number and quality of the games, The price, How resistant the console is to bumps and hard knocks, The warrantee length, etc.

After narrowing down the options greatly, I have come to the conclusion that the XBox 360 is out, there's just no way I'm going to buy one, same for the PS3 at this point, even though there is a game I want on that system - the PS3 is too pricey (at least in my country) and the 360 too buggy.

I will get a Wii, Its cheap at least compared to the other consoles, there are a wider range of games that I might like on the platform, though there are still far too many cutesy games for my liking.

However, since I am currently saving for a car and driving lessons, it would be unwise to buy a new console at this time.

As some of you may or may not know, For the last few days I've been testing Windows 7, which I downloaded and installed on a Virtual Machine on my laptop. So far I can see that it does load faster than Vista and XP. I can't test graphical performance however, as Virtual PC 2007 isn't capable of that.

Windows 7 is a breath of fresh air, at least for me, My only concern is that certain features that were in previous versions now have to be downloaded from the internet, which is, I guess to please the competition.

I'm pleased to say I haven't had one crash or blue screen yet!

Since this is still a beta, It has a long way to go before final release.

I've decided to go back In Entropia Universe for a bit to spend the rest of the money I didn't spend last time, once that has run out I will quit for good. Hopefully I'll spend it a little better, not that I didn't spend it well the first time.

I will not attempt any deposits into Entropia Universe in the current economic conditions, at least not yet.

Also, I am trying out Afterworld again, I am loving it so far, but I think it could use a lot of work if the devs hope to compete with Entropia Universe.

# Startups are a little faster, If you meet the recommended requirements.
# Includes features from the Tablet PC and Media Centre editions of XP.
# Nice glossy look to everything
# Transparency
# BitLocker

Cons
# Overpriced for similar XP features
# Bloatware (though I guess with the large size of hard drives these days it doesn't matter, but still)
# Uses more memory while Idle than XP, Though the memory management architecture is different so it's (Kind of) understandable.
# Security prompts are too annoying (Though they can be disabled, thank god)
# I don't see anything in Vista's DX10 that can't be implemented in DX9 in some form.
# Some games just don't run, or run poorly - hell even some newer ones. To be fair some newer games run better in Vista than in XP...
# Don't seem to be able to drag the taskbar around the screen, as you used to be able to in previous versions.
# Some hardware and software is not compatable and/or there are no viable replacements.

I use Vista Business at work, though I have to dual boot with XP to use our Invoicing program, since it won't work in Vista, hell I'm even using the latest version (Jan 200 :laugh:

The Future

Vista will (eventually) be superseded by Windows 7 (Codenamed 'Vienna') , A test build of which was introduced to the US government recently for some reason :confused: It's slated for a 2010 release...

Dear Readers, I am beginning to think that I need better cooling, My computer has been near overheating the last few days due to the heat. It does not help that I cannot have air con because I live in rental accomodation. I could see if I could move to a rental property that has air con though...

Over the next few days I will see if I can find some better cooling for my computer, that is effective and affordable on my low budget. Something from Thermaltake has my eye, but I want to consider a range of offers....

Additional Purchase Considerations: NVidea GeForce 8800 GTX OR NVidea GeForce 9600 GTX, To be able to play the more recent games, Such as Crysis.

Dear readers, I've quit Entropia Universe, but for very different reasons than what others have quit for...

I have decided this based on past experiences. For now I will just be concentrating on games which don't consume too much of my bandwidth, with a 3gb limit on wireless broadband, the 'game' is shizenhousen in that regard.

That combined with the fact that I cannot get cable broadband in my area Angry due to a pair gain system (which the telephone company (Telstra) refuses to do anything about, hell, they're even refusing to fix my landline... bastards) means that playing this game is... not a pleasurable experience come time for the bill Sad

I'll continue to play Neocron, It's buggy, But what the heck? It's time for my dose of Neocrack... If you'll excuse me... Hot

3 years ago to the day I started my Neocron Journey in Neocron 1. I had to cancel that account due to monetary problems.

I have decided to rejoin, starting with a new account, which I started on the 10th (or was it 9th) of August. NC2 seems to be a lot different to NC1...

I might start playing this properly in four months time as I am currently trying to study.

Did some more n00b mob hunting with my m1a (which is already at 50% condition) , made 30% of the cash I spent on the hunt back... Not good... I am getting closer to 1k rifle though, but it's taking forever...
