The Witcher (PC, Games For Windows)

The Witcher, an RPG with balls.

Graphics

The graphics and models of the witcher are beautifull. It feels a bit like Fable, but less childish. The models are very detailed.
If you've got a 8800GTX (1) videocard, you can run the game on high 1024X768, Which screws up the interface. Playing the game on 1280X1024 can make your game crash when loading levels.
The only minus on the graphics side is the long loading time of certain levels.
Mimimum Graphics card:NVidia GeForce 6600 & Ati Radeon 9800.
For further specifications see notes.

Gameplay
Next is gameplay, made with the BioWare aurora 2007 engine, is plays really nice.
There are 3 combat modes, Strong, Fast and Group. The attacks look spectacular because of motion capture, and the well picked camera angles. The OTS angle was my favorite. Looking from Over-The-Shoulder give an experience of both 1st and 3rd person RPG's.

Storyline
Then there's also storyline.
The storyline is a big red line, in which your choices have an avarage rate of effect.
In your chapter 1,you can choose to let a witch live or kill her.
In chapter 4 or so, she returns if you've let her live. But if you didn't you can still finish the quest. Which makes that choice irrelevant.

In the final chapter you must look back at your choices, fighting the rebels or the order of the flaming rose.
If you've let the witch live, she'll give you 2 potions, if not, I think she'll attack you.

When you end chapter 1, and enter chapter 2, you can't go back to the village of chapter 1.
When you end chapter 2, and enter chapter 3,
you can still enter the city of chapter 2.
But most things are rather limited.
When you've got to choose between the rebels and the order of the flaming rose, that's the critical point of choice you must pick a side.
That's the only point of a big choice.

But I believe the end of the game remains the same.

Personal opinion
The game is highly recommended for people who like both strategie and RPG.
Play the game once following your heart.
Then play it againg and do all vice-versa.
You'll see that it's suprissing how some things change or stay the same.
Good for 80 hours of gamplay for the avarage gamer. 70 hours for hardcore gamers.

Notes:
Games for Windows? Yes, whell, sort of.
If you're using Vista you must download an update yourself, windows update doesn't download it by default. If you don't update, the game crashes within 5 - 10 minutes.
I've got 2048 MB ram, in 1 cinematic I got an error. "Insufficiant memory (4MB)".

Dual Core Processor is advised.
Game needs 8GB HDD.
Game does not work with the following

processors:
AMD Duron Series
AMD XP+ Series
Intel Celeron Series (you'd be mad to play games on a celeron - That's laptop hardware.).

Unsupported Video Card (Dunno if they work):
S3 Colt
S3 S27
S3 S8 ( I really don't know this stuff)
