How many of you leave your systems running 24/7?
Or even how much of your system is unused (idle) whenever you use your PC?

Help advance the future of science and technology with BOINC ( http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php )

Small list of projects ( http://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php )

Some BOINC projects can run on your GPU which can process far greater than any CPU on the planet. List of supported GPU projects here ( http://boinc.berkeley.edu/gpu.php )

I'm doing AQUA@Home (They are researching Quantum computers) and Collatz Conjecture for my GPU until Milkyway@Home (They are using GPU's to render an accurate 3D model of the Milkyway galaxy. So far 1/4th done) supports ATI Stream again.

Note: It's fun (at least from a computer geek's perspective) to see how many FLOPS you have contributed to science.

How many GFLOPS can you give per second?
How many TFLOPS can you give per day?
How many PFLOPS can you give per month?
How many EFLOPS can you give per year?

Ok I can get around 16 Petaflops per day. Mostly this comes from my graphics card. (17.7 Pflops per day with ATI 4870 1Gb GDDR5)
I am guessing that Meloan should be able to get 13.6 Petaflops per day with his 4770. I don't really know too much about NVIDIA and CUDA though. ATI was the first to do GPGPU and ATI Stream came before NVIDIA CUDA/PhysX so naturally ATI has always had better performance when it comes to GPGPU.

What really matters when it comes to GPGU is DP FLOPS not SP FLOPS. Graphics card are rated by SP FLOPS but CPU's are rated with DP FLOPS.

The ratio for the 5870 is 4 SP Flops = 1 DP Flop
Realistically I get around 820 SP Flops which means 205 DP Flops. Which means I'm getting 17.7 DP Pflops per day.
