Gaming and age
2009-10-01 1:52 PM PDT
Some people consider that playing games is meant for a certain age, for those in between 12 and 18 year. If you are older, then you may not play games anymore. Media also refer to this certain group if they talk about gaming.
However, since The Sims came out you see also some older people play games and even younger ones. And more and more you see that people between 20 and 40 play also games and not only The Sims. And why not. Is gaming age related? Does it matter that people around the 30 still play games? I think not. I'm myself 28 years now and still play games. I like to play games when i have time. Once there was somebody who said not to play games. Why? Is there a rule for age for gaming? I don't think so. Gaming is timeless and not age restricted. Everyone can play games, even if you're 80. There are even people of 30 years who lead a clan.
So cut just the crap and accept that also people above the 20 play games. Gaming is wide spread in all of the ages. Actually it starts already at 4 years with freddy fish and such.

I had guild leaders between 30-45, my worst one was 65 at the time, 2-3 years ago now, so indeed, gaming is timeless and ageless.
It's a hobby just like any other ^^
Enjoy it, that's all that matters in the end

Totally true. I wish that I keep playing games when I'll come to your age. I want now, but I can't possibly know how I'll be in ten years.

I see games as a form of art.
Many inspire originality and require intelligence.

Ignore people with a box shaped brain and do what you like.

You have to realize that 20-30 years ago, we didn't have this tech on personal computers. Computers were basically a tool, not a toy. Plus, you spend money on a game and it lasts forever, which is better than finding destructive means of relinquishing boredom or trying to find a way to not spend money and still have a good time. So, yeah, this explains a lot why there are gamers in the mid-30s and above. It's more of a fascination of watching the industry grow so rapidly in this area, IMO.

Gaming is indeed widespread in all ages. I read somewhere that the average gamer age is 29! For me gaming is a hobby and entertainment much like others watch tv. As a PC native, ill keep gaming and having fun untill i wont enjoy it anymore tough i cant imagine that right now. Ice, 30 years old.
