Vista fails, soundcards now mainstream

I'll make this as short as I can.
It's been known for a while that Vista does not have the Hardware Abstract Layer AKA HAL for directsound 3d purposes whilst XP does.
What does this mean? Well it means your old sound card that one supported directsound and EAX has now become obsolete and you will be required to buy a $160-250 soundcard to play games that are coming out. The bastards at microsoft and creative are trying to kill off EAX and directsound, leaving soundcards that previously supported these out in the dust.
Now if you were one of those people who purchased a mega pricey sound card back a year ago, even two. You might have a chance that your card supports OpenAL, the new sound format that MS and Creative are pushing. If not, you will be enjoying the crisp sound of OpenAL in software mode, AKA stereo. What FUN!!! Basically OpenAL is killing off EAX and making it legacy, this should not be happening period.
So here I am, using vista and a good sound card. Forced to use drivers that attempt to "emulate" directsound3d in hardware mode and enjoy all of the distorted sound, crashing games and incompatibilites of this.
Thanks microshaft. You guys are fucking leet.
