I put off writing this just in case I got the chance to throw more questions in the direction of Mike, Elizabeth and Amanda before the end of the tournament but unfortuantly, I did not.
Some interesting questions were asked at this live chat and some very interesting answers were given. Some of the answers confused me. Some of them annoyed me. All in all it was a good night.
Question: [TTHS]Prophet: How likely do you think it is that Blizzard will announce Diablo 3 at Blizzcon this year or do you think D3 is a pipe dream...at least for the near future? My Persoanly opinion here was that a Diablo 3 announcement was inevitable at Blizzcon. All of the hype that was being created by Blizzard seemed to point to it. The posting of a Diablo movie on the Legendary site, the new Diablo artwork all over the Blizzard website seemed to hint at the new game.
Mike disagreed with me and it appears he was right. He made the point that Blizzcon was a celebration of all three franchises and that the Diablo artwork was to be expected. He didn't think Starcraft 2, Expansion 2 AND Diablo 3 at the same, two day event, was plausible and he was right.
This years Blizzcon saw no Diablo 3 and yet more disappointement in the D3 community, who seem to have taken the lack of announcement harder than they have before with many expressing a lack of confidence in Blizzard.
Question: [TTHS]Prophet: There have been rumours that they are adding a class called Death Knights, among others but I want to know if you think they are adding prestige classes...bolt ons if you wish...or brand spanking new classes? This question was more for my own curiosity than the actual information. It was well known by this point that Blizzard are adding a class (or classes?) that are unlockable when players reach level 80 in the new expansion. The dynamics of the Death Knight are widly unknown however with only the concept os a rune sword, Death Knights answer to mana/rage/energy, being revealed. Needless to say I feel that if Blizzard add one her class and one only they are making a tragic mistake.
Mike and the others agreed with me with all of them making the point that it would be odd for only one hero class to be added. Miek made the point that we had to wait an insane amount of time for the drenai reveal so it could be that Blizzard are unwilling to release the other class or classes in the hero bracket at this moment in time.
Watch this space?
Question: [TTHS]Prophet: Starcraft is recognised for its balance and playability on a professional level like no other RTS. Do you think Blizzard are risking their identity in this respect by braving Starcraft 2 or do you beleive they will get it right and "save face" in the pro esport area? This one was more a question to put the Starcraft fan base' minds at rest. Many people fear the implications of a new SC title but it appears that those fears were misplaced with many who played the game at Blizzcon saying that it feels like SC1 with a few new units and a new graphics engine.
Still, the question ahd to be asked and in my opinion Blizzard aren't ricking anything. It is will know that Blizzard won't release it if they feel it is wrong or broken. Look at Starcraft Ghost.
Mike was inclined to agree, as were, yet again, all the speakers. Stating the same as above, Mike inclined towards perfection from Blizzard but Amanda made the good point that even a perfect game can use updates.
Question: [TTHS]Prophet: Again on the pro esport area, WoW Arena 2v2 has gone pro but the mechanics mean that certain combinations being far better than others. Do you think Blizzard will aim to balance this (seeing as it has gone pro) or do you think people can accuse them of passively doctoring the outcome of the arena ladders in favour of certain class combinations? What Mike says next shocked me. He tried to claim that 2v2 isn't professional and that it is just for fun. It's ashame that it was the first ladder to recieve external interest from the CGS and now, the top 8 teams in the world will be on contract earning $30000 to $100000 a year. That's pro to me.
Apart form that, Mike went into great detail about his thoughts on this, saying that Blizzard continually try and balance the game. In my opinion. Blizzard balance Arena at the highest level, but at the lowest level, nothing is balanced with certain class combinations having superiority over others.
Question: [TTHS]Prophet: With World of Warcraft being left behind graphically very quickly and the fast progression we are seeing in technology at this moment in time, do you think Blizzard will look at upgrading the graphics engine with the third expansion or even this coming exapnsion?No...they said in chorus. All three think that Blizzard will continue to offer visually pleasing but technically modest graphics to fit a wide range of computers. I personally think Blizzard are preparing t#for the move to DirectX10 graphics in the next 2-18 months, seeing as Microsoft have forced their hand.
Wow Insider didn't claiming that Blizzard want the game to work on a wide range of systems and look good on a wide range of systems.
This is all well and good but when people start moving to 64-bit in their masses, Blizzard is going to have to do something about the graphics engine.
Question: [TTHS]Prophet: It's all well and good discussing what Blizzard might announce at BlizzCon, but what do you want to see from BlizzCon 2007 and also from Blizzard over the next year to two years until the next BlizzCon? This question is taken as point. I wanted to see D3 but I didn't get it and this upset me and disheartened me quite a bit. If I had been at Blizzcon like I wanted to I would not havehad this but seeing as the only thing I could do is sit and stew all weekend, I took this fairly badly.
Mike and co went on about Guild Banks and VoIP making an appearance in WoW and also the prospect of Diablo 3 and a brand new franchise in Blizzards portfolio.
We shall have to wait and see.
Here ends my array of questions at the chat. For the rest of blizzcon I was on the recieving end of many saying that there was favouritism involved because all of my uestions got answered but in my opinion it's only because I rock.
Hopefully TTHS will provide us with another brilliant Q+A session soon and hopefully, one day, I'll be able to sit in and discuss with these guys, instead of having to make my comments in an unofficial chat plastered with morons and idiots

Thanks to Mike, Elizabeth and Amanda for answering my questions and thanks to Xfore for giving us yet another amazing experience.
See you all next time ^^
