k1DBLITZ has moved to RAPTR.

I have moved to RAPTR.

While I had a great run with xfire, they have fallen behind the technology curve and show no signs of catching up soon. I will still be available via my xfire IM, but RAPTR is now my primary IM Client.

Dead Space - Done
2009-06-06 6:33 PM PDT
So I finished Dead Space today. Can't say that it was very enjoyable though it did have its moments, especially the twists at the end.

The fact that you cannot remap the commands is inexcusable. (especially for us left handers) The mouse movement also needs major work.

There was also something about the default camera that was just not right. It felt like it did if you try to read a book with your nose about 3 inches away from the pages.

Boycotting Best Buy
2009-04-14 10:54 AM PDT
Ok, so I am officially boycotting Best Buy when it comes to games. They have consistently failed to have titles out on the shelves on release day. Sometimes they are even several days late and don't follow their own release dates.

Gamestop is out of the question as they have alienated PC users.

Circuit City was never a player and is bankrupt now anyway.

Wal Mart? I don't thinks so.

Target? Bleh.

So looks like I am now purchasing all my games through Steam or Impulse.

Crysis: Single Player Campaign
2008-04-27 8:08 PM PDT
I finally got around to finishing the single player campaign for Crysis. I must say it was quite enjoyable, looking forward to more.

I'm also looking forward to going back and playing the game after a hardware upgrade....

SupCom: FA

"On first appearance, Forged Alliance doesn't look so much like a follow-up than it does a full sequel. Almost everything looks better than in Supreme Commander, right down to the loading screen for a mission. The interface has been completely overhauled, and it looks a lot better and more informative than before. The graphics have also been given a boost, given that the polygon count on units looks as if it has at least doubled or tripled. The textures have also been entirely redone, so there's a lot more detail on everything. Then there are a ton of new visual effects, from the gorgeous flak bursts of antiaircraft cannons to the smoke trails on missiles. The difference between Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance is like night and day, visually."

Inside NVIDIA's labs
2007-10-13 2:03 PM PDT
A very interesting article over NVIDIA's lab:

"Here, Howard Marks and his elite team validate the manufacturing quality of their manufacturing partners including TSMC, UMC, and IBM. That is, even as a fabless semiconductor company, NVIDIA maintains a full-scale silicon analysis lab to ensure that their chips work properly. After all, when an Intel chip fabbed at an Intel facility breaks, you blame Intel. When an NVIDIA chip fabbed somewhere else fails, you still blame NVIDIA. By having an in-house failure analysis lab, NVIDIA also speeds up the turnaround time between the “failed chip” arriving via FedEx and coming up with the solution. That’s because Howard’s team also has access to the design engineers. If there’s a problem with the memory controller, he can call the engineering team behind that functional block into the lab for added insight."

The Way It's Meant To Be Played?
2007-09-18 11:26 AM PDT
http://www.bootdaily.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=770&Itemid=56

This makes me laugh:

BD: A great deal of gamers and PC Enthusiasts really despise the way Microsoft is strong-arming the gaming community to pay tons of dough to play DX10 content by forcing them to get Vista. Microsoft tells us that it’d be “impossible” to incorporate DX10 into Windows XP. With what you’ve seen, do you think Vista is worth it in the short and long-term to gamers?

RT: I built my home PC with an Intel Quad Core, an EVGA SLI motherboard with dual GeForce 8800 GTX cards, 2GB of Corsair RAM and Western Digital Raptor drives in RAID 0. I have a 30-inch Apple screen running at 2560 x 1600. I have been running Vista for several months and I’ve played the DX 10 versions of Company of Heroes, Lost Planet, and BioShock with no problems. I love Vista!

With that being said, the rest of the interview actually is quite good and explains TWIMTBP program in more detail.
