Pop and Computer Hardware don't play nic...
2010-06-30 4:56 PM PDT
2 weeks ago I was watching a movie on my computer, having a good time, with the computer working flawlessly for over 3 years without a hiccup and having the computer be on 24/7 all the time. I decided to mess it all up in a matter of second by grabbing my cup wrong, newly filled with a fresh can of pop, and spilled it on my desk, which subsequently spilled onto the top of my computer case and down the top exhaust fan.

What did I do? At first, I froze and then I immediatly turned it off. But by then, the damage was done.

I tried drying everything off and washing it with distilled water, but the soda went into too many connectors too fast.

I fried my motherboard, main graphics card (secondary one still worked), and TV tuner (not sure how that got messed up). I bought all those parts again and my computer is fine again. Although I can't really say that it made it a whole lot faster. But fast nonetheless.

So, one lesson learned: never spill coke on computer and leave it sitting for more than 3 seconds.

Starcraft II Beta
2010-05-19 12:27 PM PDT
I have had a chance to play the Starcraft 2 beta the last few weeks. It has been a blast, and the experience is increased when you have someone (a personal friend maybe) to play with and do ladder games.

Custom maps are not rampant, or in the beta at all, I haven't done too much digging to find out though. I believe Custom Maps will make or break this game though as they did in Warcraft III. Without some of the more popular maps in Warcraft III, it wouldn't be as popular as it is today.

But back to basics. The ladder games me and my fellow mate: EvilGopher1 on xfire, have played have been awesome. In the beta, the game shows real promise with the balance of the races already pretty well honed in on. Zerg does seem to be the less favorable/unfavored of the races to win, as it stands right now, but if you are good, anything can happen and turn the tide of the game.

With ladder games, my partner and I started out in Silver league and have worked our way almost to platinum by being #1 in gold league for a while. We have not had a chance to play the past couple weeks and we have dropped to around rank 17 though.

The different levels of ladder brackets was genius on Blizzard's part and I think people who buy this game and are competitive will enjoy this greatly.

Hopefully I will have some more insight into the game as it nears it's release date.
