Over-Gaming + Dreams = Improvement?

Lately I have been unable or possibly unwilling on a subconscious level to fall asleep. Instead, I find myself playing League of Legends continually in my sleep. I simply can't take my mind off of it, literally.
However, the odd part about it all is the fact that after the past few nights of this with little sleep I find myself performing odd tasks whilst gaming. What I mean, simply, is that I have gotten substantially better at the game in way of predicting responses to my actions and my counter-action to their moves. This may give way to the theory that I "practice" the game over and over again in my dreams to come out of it much the wiser.
Although this is fascinating, I wish I could record more accurate events or situations but I simply find myself playing the game as I do normally but I find I am unable to do as well as I usually do. I am unable to get as many kills, but I die much more often. This could be me preforming a move, getting dominated, dying and then learning from the mistake by doing the same thing over again in my mind until I find a useful way around it.
This all, of course, relies heavily on the day's prior events. For instance, I neglected to play the game one day this week and found my dreams dismal and uneventful. However, I picked it up again the day after and the dreams and sleeplessness returned yet again.
Maybe I will be able to expand on this further in the future but I thought it noteworthy to point this odd occurrence out. This is the first time this has happened to me on such a conscious level. Has anyone had such an experience?
