At the time I thought of creating my own military realism unit I was in the 5th Ranger Battalion of Day of Defeat: Source, what I can say is, I was tired of being an E-6 PFC so I resigned with an honorable discharge, which I still have the papers for.
A few months later I created the 75th Ranger Regiment, after finding an another 75th which has probably the B E S T idea for creating awards ever. That was the inspiration that kept me going for a long time.
Some of the guys in the 5th were also tired of not being promoted so they resigned and joined up with me as well. We started out in DoDS but wanted to spread out to other games. We competed in one competition, and it was the only one that we really did compete in as a cohesive unit. I thought ETQW was our chance but we didn't stand a chance then either.
I met probably one of my best soldiers, SFC Engel, in the ETQW section. He was my best Ranger, worked hard in recruiting and got us up to 11 members (including my Regimental Translators which I hired on my friends who could speak foreign languages as my personal staff) as the DoDS unit was disbanded and my first CSM resigned.
ex CSM May, who left to rejoin the 5th Rangers, later came back as an Adjutant at the rank of Specialist 5. He was later promoted to Specialist 6 as he got ETQW. Though it was too late for him. Seeing no way to continue the 75th with no interest, I disbanded the Regiment.
I am a Ranger no more, two years and nothing to show for it except a Class A (which was the work of the previously mentioned 75th Ranger Regiment, copyrighted by them and everything) One of my translators actually has more decorations than I do, pretty surprising. But I will say this, as a n00b, I envy the designer of this thing.
