Modern Warfare 2
2009-12-02 10:21 PM PST
Probably the biggest disappointment of the year as far as the no dedicated server thing. I didn't buy it, I dont think its worth it yet due to every other game having fairly noticable lags. Not to mention there being no Anti Cheat system. I've played with aim botters, speed hackers and what not. People were complaining pirates could play online but I dont mind that heh. I'd buy the game for about 30 bucks or so. maybe 35ish. The single player was fantastic but the multiplayer is piss poor. Took about 10 minutes to find a game today with a full group of players. Worst multiplayer experience of a call of duty game i've ever had. So no to the 4 hour single player and laggy as well as buggy online multiplayer. I haven't heard anyone admit its good but the general consensus is "its not that bad". I didn't fall in love with CoD because its "not That bad".
5/10.

singleplayer is wonderful but only takes 4 hours to beat, not worth 60 dollars.

Multiplayer has no anti cheat, no console, no dedicated servers, No Lean. Massive insult to PC players and I dont plan to purchase another infinity ward product if they have no regard for their customers.

Xmen Origins
2009-10-19 9:53 PM PDT
This game was supprisingly not as bad as i thought it would be. The game was actually enjoyable. Somewhat short, and the controls had a couple of issues at time mainly just movement. my only real complaints was invisible walls, repetitive enemies and no sprint feature. The game took a different path than the actual movie, which was pretty cool espeically if you dont know shit about x-men. Just maybe bits and pieces about people like myself. I actually learned something about my favorite X men character *cough nightcrawler cough*. but yeah the game has an interesting spin on the story. and overall its pretty fun. I'd pay about 35-40 dollars for it if I was into button smashing one player games. This was another game i wanted to try out my xbox madcats controller on so...it played very well. Its a pretty simple game, A hardcore gamer may get bored with it pretty quick, and theres no replayability i think, but if you're young or an x-man fan its worth checking out. I'd give the game a 7.9 out of 10.

Pros:
Alternative storyline
Voice acting is nice
Graphics are nice
Simple, and customizable balanced fighting styles
Hidden bonuses

Cons:
Invisible walls,
Slow movement/problems occasionally with the double tap roll
Repetitive
Fictional NPCs that seem to be just made up. and show up alot.
no replayability

Republic Commando
2009-09-28 9:24 PM PDT
Republic commando isn't a great game but it isn't a bad one. It has a few problems, problems that are common to games with a team/squad feature. The bots have the same mindstate as left 4 dead pretty much just a bit worst. Oh and you cant walk through them. Which means often they wont obey a command because they cant process to go around you. They also will damage you if they're using a certain weapon and you're in the way. The length of the game is ehhh. Depends on how much you like it. you fight the same set of enemies pretty much. Theres about 5 types i'd say per world. When you begin the game you start off as a clone on kamino, note this is all cinema. You're explained all the commando story and what not. First thing that i noticed about the game was the OVERLY sensative mainscreen mouse. But its not part of the game so ill let that slide. To me the game became really repetivie and instead of challenging just annoying. Mainly because you run out of ammo SOOO much in the game. You run into the Super droid destroyers alot from episode 2 and you have to waste about 2 clips to take em down. Your main weapon gets only 3. So after one encounter you're fucked. So..Ammo is an issue. Theres alot of heavy enemies or mini-bosses that come out and can randomly kill you in nearly one hit. That gets annoying as well. The game doesn't offer much dept or challenge, just annoyance and time delay it seems. The storyline is good. Not too involving. But its there, i mean it is star wars. The game isn't immersive at all. You feel like you're playing an Arcade game the entire way through. Even down to everything being disproportionate. In the film full grown human was NEVER the size of a wookies leg. Those were some fucking huge ass wookies in the game. The voice over for this type of game is pretty good. Alot of it doesn't feel star warsy. But its not bad audio. The auido is definately a nice point in this game. Overall I wouldn't purchase this game for any serious gamer. casual gamers would enjoy it. I wouldn't...

Sniper Art of ...lol
2009-09-24 11:49 AM PDT
Ok some consider making video games an Art but Sniper Art of Victory has NOTHING art related about it. For everything this game does right theres about 5 other fuck ups for it. So to set the atmospher you start off the game, you get a huge medal of honor/ call of duty 1 looking load screen with a dude peeking out the window. So far not so bad. If you're not the type to really give a shit about immersion and story in a game this game doesn't offer either. The only bit of story you actually get is, "Ya know in ww2 there was some guys with guns...and they shot em well. It helped." Then a brief little paragraph during the loading screen. So What did the game do right? Well It seems like a smaller company trying to immitate the game Sniper Elite which was actually a nice game. It takes all the worst from that game (which isn't much) and expands on it. So they attempt a wind system, Which is kind of retarded since the graphics aren't really advanced enough to visually display any wind. Just fog and smoke...you also have to deal with the heartbeat/breathing a bit but not much. The game did manage to do the gravity effect right. Which the name of slips my name. So for the sake of the review lets call it the C-effect. Anyway they let you know from the bat that if you're on veteran (Which i wasn't) you wouldn't be able to see the little outline that shows where the bullet is really going. That was a nice touch for players who didn't wanna do the realistic thing. So to counter the what seems like a decently done sniping system. You soon find quite a few areas that your bullets can fly through when peeking around a corner. You find no matter what your first shot when you scope in quickly will instantly leave your barrel and be sent to oblivion. This game actually managed to fuck up rag doll physics. Which amazes me. Theres no indicator that you hit your target except the little Harlem shake the nazi does if you get a headshot, Problem is the ragdolls are so fucked up sometimes he'll just stick to the wall or...

FSW Ten hammer
2009-09-22 12:46 PM PDT
FSW Ten hammer seemed to be ...i wouldn't really call it a game, but more so an attempt at some type of training software. Anyway i wouldn't recommend buying it if you're the type that prefers an intuitive well designed game. FSW seems like it had a few hour learning curve. Teaching you what everything did, memorizing the terrible interface and control system is what killed the game for me. It seems simliar to BIA just about 4 times worst though. Graphics were nice, the feel of it was alright. Its just the gameplay that dropped the ball. Once again though if i had to bet i think its a military designed shooter to train troops, but God bless our soldiers for having to play that piece of shit.

I'd give it a 4.9 out of 10. If a game isn't able to produce a compotent control system thats a deduction of 7 points automatically in my book. Christ. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this game or getting it by any other means. I think the only thing this game would be good for is a screen saver, paper weight and maybe a table prop. Except im sure more work went into designing whatever box it had than the actual game play.

Fail spectrum Warrior.

BIA: Hells highway
2009-06-24 4:00 PM PDT
This game was a major improvement from the other brothers in Arms i played. Graphically stunning, and the game play was actually fun this time around. Last time i got so bored i just turned on cheats and ended up running through so i could get the cinema. the game has some improvements but as far as gameplay i still dont feel its good. Bullets actually register now if someones head is sticking from around a corner. the headshots in this game are enough to give it a 7. the blood splurt and cracking skulls are beautiful. Amazingly the storyline was alot better this time around too. The training sucked ass but eventually i figured it all out. The game seems like it wants to hug the concept of being stuck in a grassy maze and appearing behind nazis to get a good shot. towards the end they drop the teamwork bs thats not really esential since the AI doesn't really do anything but soak up bullets and scream the same 5 lines over and over. Oh also when you're peaking around cover imagine someone getting about 2 inches behind ya so you can get back in when everyone realizes where you're firing from. So thats fucking irritating. But other than the bad teammates which the game seems to be based off of its a rather decent game. They killed whatever it was in the last game that made the germans attention focus on you and ONLY you so its nice. Now only vehicles and tanks psychically know where you are. The tank battles are still annoying. You get to find the box of m8 bazooks the germans happen to leave lying around when they send in their panzer 4s. Finding the box was always the hardest part of the game for me. I really disliked the idea of playing tag with a tank while i look for a box of rpgs that aren't obviously placed somewhere. the multiplayer seems to be pretty dead. <3 game spys for allowing online play with only an account. so yeah ill give this game a 7.7. graphics are great, game play is improved but still hugging to concepts that take away from a fun experience since its not an essential. its like...

3 Bioware games
2009-06-17 10:22 PM PDT
Mass Effect, Kotor 2, and Kotor 1.

i listed them in the order of most recently played to older. didn't write about them i dont think. Well i finished mass effect the other day. And simply. Yes. Is all i can say. Bioware definately has my respect as a company (and apologies for not buying their games). These 3 games are worth 50 dollars. Theres nothing really i can say bad about mass effect that wouldn't be being petty. the pathing with your team mates fuck up from time to time, they shoot the wall alot, the AI isn't too difficult. Money becomes pretty much as useful as it was in diablo 2. But thats about it. MAss effect was a great game, hell came with the Securom bullshit and bioware removed it after enough complaints from their fans. Megaprops to them. Right now im waitting for The Old republic and plan to buy it as soon as possible. I give Mass effect a 9.0 out of 10. Worth buying.

Kotor 1 & 2 Yes. I didn't buy it for myself but ended up buying it from amazon for a friend. cause i knew i loved it. all great games.

Left 4 Dead
2009-04-10 6:37 AM PDT
So I just realized, i never wrote anything about the games i ACTUALLY PLAY ALOT. ironic eh? well ok to start off To think l4d is worth 50 dollars unless you're getting a dedicated group of gamer buddies to play is fucking retarded. Ok so that being said the game doesn't feel like a game but rather a really fucking fun mod. Simliar to my beloved clan's [82ndid] original cod 4 Zombie mod (i was around before that shit never liked it). Though there was a weekend deal where l4d was 25 bucks which is definitely closer to what it was worth, it only lasted 3 days. So as far as graphics goes, its really nice looking , does alot of creative lighting shit to lead you around and what not. The game doesn't lack a fear element. Though i let a friend play and she looked like she was going to Shit a hubcap everytime the zombies looked at her and charged her. Me personally first 3 days i got the game i'd flinch a little when a hunter would pounce me because the speed of them coming is like whoa at first. until eventually you get to the shitty (which there are a FUCKING LOT OF) servers where the ping makes you wonder if they're actually servers and not card board boxes with ram in them and can and strings connecting all 8 of you. the game is really co-op based, which means if you play with pubbers or play this game alone without buddies you're in for a horrible experience. yeah theres some downloadable content coming which means you can play on more than 2 campaigns (more than 10 maps). Which would make the game a little bit more worth it. theres patches quite a bit trying to nick and fix everything, though being infected is pretty much a struggle of praying you dont get the smoker class and dealing with bugs such as the hunter not being able to navigate doors, loosing his footing from falling 3 inches. the story line is non existant. which always gives a game negative points to me unless its a fucking nice game such as planetside (prior to core combat). L4d is a nice game. It just doesn't feel finished. The SDK may...

what the far cry
2009-04-08 10:54 PM PDT
Ok So I've just recently purchased the whole steam ubisoft pack deal thingy that came. mainly because i've wnated to play dark messiah and heard there was a multiplayer. So in it came far cry 1. I recently brought far cry 2 for the multiplayer which didn't work and steam decided not to offer a refund. either way i fucked around got far cry 2 working. its just as bad as i thought it would be. and not many people play. Anyway so now im playing far cry 1 which i figured must of been something since there was a bit of a hype around far cry 2. well from what im seeing anyone who likes this game needs to be put out of their misery. This is the type of game that you get for someone once again who just is like oh a vida game dur dur!. What did i like about far cry 1? the skydome is nice looking, theres cinema and thats it. how the fuck these 2 games are related boggles my mind. other than both being fucking horrendous , being in a jungle, and having guns i dont see why far cry 2 wasn't just called something else. So in far cry one you're jack something doesn't matter because the storyline is pretty awful. hes you're typical macho badass who sounds like he has a cold. You get your missions from some guy you dont know, dont worry the character has no fucking clue who he is either so you spend the game (well im only half way through and STRUGGLING to finish it because im not having fun im more so just excited to think i've beat it and will never have a reason to install this digital piece of shit ever again) getting orders from a phone with a guy who sounds like a broke ass morpheus/lawrence fishburne. You also have to eventually deal with what looks like to be an inbred-downs syndrome stricken-hunter from left 4 dead. Oh they've also decided to go back to the classic elements with those things, they fucking get near you you take damage even if they're not in proximity to swipe at you. You also wind up dealing with these big super mutant looking things (fallout 3 refence) that have RPGs. RPGs kill you in one hit...

Mirrors Edge
2009-03-10 12:51 AM PDT
Well i played and beat this game a while back. Didn't really get to write about it. Well Mirrors edge was a really refreshing game, new idea, new look. really cool. Its basically a platform fps in the new generation of console (including pc) gaming. Theres a few things that do get annoying, you're dodging bullets alot, and the weird combat system. The game isn't hard. takes on average about 6 hours to beat. Took me a while because the way i *Ahem* aquired..the game... caused a bit of an issue. So i had to RELOAD a fix for it heh. Either way in my opinion the game looks great, runs alright, the storyline isn't really deep. You carry information from point a to point b in a totalitarianism regime. I dont think you even figure out what happened or where you are...But yeah the game isn't worth 50 bucks. So worth purchasing? hell no. 6 hours of game play. Portal was only 10 dollars so this should be as well. maybe 15. and thats pushing it. Good game, lots of potential. For its class i give the game i guess an 8.0
