for those who havent seen brainiac, the xploding paste is a form of paint. when wet completely safe. after drying on the other hand, it is highly volitile, and the smallest movement will set it of.

the paste consists of 2 incridients, iodine crystals and amonium hydroxide. the crystalls can be bought at most pharmacies or drug stores. amonium hydroxide is harder to get, but even if you can get pure amonium hydroxide, chanses are you dont want it, because it only affects the strenght of the paste, and you dont want to take the wall of your house now would you? any household amonia water will do, it has to be clear, if its cloudy it wont work.

1. chrush up yhe crystals. it speeds up the reaction.
2. put two tablespoons of the crystals in a glass or pyex container that will hold atleast 500ml.
3. add 100ml amonia to the container. you should add abit more than this. with to little it wont work, to much wont make a differance.
4. stir the mixture for about 10 minutes. small boubbles of hydrogen will rise from the mixture. when the boubbles stop the reaction is over.
5. leave the mixture for about 5 minutes to make sure its completely done. the stuff at the bottom of the container is the paste.
6. pour it through a coffe filter to get rid of the fluid. this is all water by now.
7. the paste will dry in about an hour. store it in water in an airtight container if you want to save it for later.
8. smear the paste on something like a lightswitch. let it dry and wait for someone to use it. when they touch the switch the paste will go off. dont use to much of it.
