Not quite, but near enough.
April 11th, wednesday, the cooler fan of my Ati Radeon X1900 XT died, stopped, went silent, whatever else you can describe it as.
When the fan was working correctly, the temperature of the card could be around
60 °C after several hours of Oblivion.
Currently the temperature is at
84 °C when the computer is idle! If I go to DxDiag's Direct3D test, for example, it still goes at 999 fps (or more, the limit of Fraps is 999), but after the test Catalyst Control Center shows that the temperature is
96 °C.
It's still okay, as the drivers give me warnings when the temp goes over
110 °C, and even still it is not letting the smoke out (everybody knows that it does not run with electricity, it runs with smoke and as the smoke gets out it stops working).
Well, I ordered myself a new
Zalman VF900-Cu cooler from only4pro.com. If everything goes well, it should drop in to the local post office after 15 hours from the point I have posted this blog entry. Until then it's no gaming for me; I don't want to fry up the rather expensive card (hey, I am a student with very little income!).
Another subject then. There has been some problems with the popup script for EventScripts I have written. I committed two additional releases tonight, I hope the release 5 (the current one) is a properly working one...
The link of the night today will be...
Ati Catalyst drivers RSS feed, for all you Ati lovers

PS. If you did not notice, you can click on the temperatures on my post to see Google convert them into Fahrenheits, in case you understand those better.
