In my opinion the previous years' jokes were better, this Hfire thing was quite lame. But the people's reactions on the forums were always the best thing in Xfire's april fools jokes, and it was this year too.
What I like in Xfire's jokes is that they are interesting in technical aspect. For example changing the game names and icons, that required editing the web code and database contents. Having the site in 1337 language dynamically created on the fly was also interesting in technical view. And now having all videos redirect to some specific videos, keeping count of them to later allow viewing videos normally.
Gotta love the Xfire web team making this possible, instead of fixing some "easy" bugs such as { and } characters getting messed up in blog posts and having escaped characters turn into HTML entity codes in video comments.
EDIT: See? Those were originally { and } but turned out to numerical entity codes
a few topics not locked about the case around the place
threats to leave Xfire (like every year)
people dying (at least they posted they died)
lulz?
Some people really didn't seem to know that such a thing as April Fools' day existed. There are people from many cultures using Xfire and this concept of making mad jokes in one day of a year is not known to everyone.
Some of the Xfire chat logs (names changed, I am feeling nice):
And I even got a PM on forums:
It's only 364 days until next April Fools' Day, so prepare yourselves!
Not to mention you got people that are threatening legal action against Xfire for a joke. Some people seriously need to grow up. At least features weren't broken like last year. Just screwed with them for a bit.
Only problem I had with it was I made a cool friend on EaW and I wanted him to join Xfire but he got pissed at me because he thought Xfire was a gay porn site. ಠ_ಠ
