first off, this is a document i typed up in about 5 min. most of these are common knowledge, with a few snippits of

advanced changes.

*Disabling loadup applications under MSCONFIG, under the Startup Tab.
-Start, MSConfig, Disable all under startup.
-disable all third party services under the services tab,
-disable the microsoft parental controls and microsoft windows search features under the msconfig, services tab.
*Clean out programs you dont use in Add/Remove Programs. (obviously, duh right? )
-Start, Control Panel, Uninstal A Program

*Disabled User Account Control (The "Do you want this program to continue or cancel: box.)
-Click start, Control Panel, User Accounts & Family Safety, User Accounts, Turn User Account Control On or Off,

Uncheck User Account Control (UAC), Restart Computer. That should no longer pop up.
-in windows 7, its a slider bar, just move it down to "off"
*-remove windows features and instaled componets like windows media player, (and we wish IE, but we cant on

vista/7)

in windows media player, under options, and privacy, you'll notice you can't uncheck the "send microsoft data usage box" that pisses me off cause it invades my privacy.


*-Reset Internet Explorer / disables all pre-instaled junk, like the msn toolbar
-Start, Control Panel, Classic View[top left corner blue pane] Internet Options, Advanced
Tab (top right) click Reset.

*disable file indexing and volume shadow copies
-start, type msconfig, enter, services tab, untick the windows search tab, click ok and reboot.
step 2. -open up computer, right click on drive c: (do this on all your hard drives) untick the file indexing for

faster search, and apply. then reboot'
step 3. start, control panel, administrative tools, file indexing, untick all boxes, also check vss options
*-disable system restore points
-disable windows messenger and remove all defaults
-disable remote access
-disable the aero interface, make vista-7 look and run like win98se. [also less for system to load, which'll make

machine run better, {duh right? ] classic view, disable the fancy startup bar menu options. (right click on

toolbar, goto properties, classic start menu)
-disable desktop icons, all accept computer and recycle bin. (right click on desktop, goto personalize, on top right

hand corner goto change desktop icons, untick the ones you dont need)
-select windows to run on high performance in power settings, also under advanced properties tab [under computer],

select windows to run on best performance, not top quality. (see below)*

had to run disk management to get my other hard drive to show.
geforce 181.20 drivers work well with w7

x-fi 64bit vista drivers dont work properly, the i.o on 64bit is still fucked on the xfi xtreme music... iso fix!


disabled games and gadgets from windows componets under add remove programs


*everything is moved around, u cant find classic start menu or classic settings easiliy, everything looks pretty,

but its going to eat up resources.... to change it, you got to right click on computer, goto properties, advanced

tab, performance tab, and run as best performance.*


-disabled windows defender
-windows firewall is set as a default.

more notes: the show desktop icon (blue square) on bottom right hand screen is very handy
