PES6 CHAT ON XFIRE WITH SMAINGERRARD AND NONOMEL
July 25th 2007, Online

It's almost time for PES6 to pack and make room for its successor. But just before that, while the season drifts slowly towards its end, Smaïn "SmainGerrard" Ouadah, finalist of the 2007 french nationals and quarter-finalist at the World Cup and Arnaud "nonomel" Patient, spiritual leader of team aAa share their experience of the game and hopes and expectations for PES2008.

cia-clan.be » OTTr: Is there anything to earn in the pes competition (what sort of prizes are there)
nonomel: Usually mostly consoles but it can go up to 10 0000 dollars
nonomel: 10 000 !
nonomel: not 100000

cia-clan.be » OTTr: Are there any PES 6 PC tournaments out there, and how do they play lans on PC (there is no lan option in pes)
nonomel :
There are both, for pc tournaments, both players play with the same computer.

Wraith: what would you recommend to someone who wants to train to become a pro gamer?
nonomel: First, you need to be mad about it... Then you need to play with your brains and face opponents stronger than yourself

ti3um: Have you been following or did you attend the ESWC 2007 ? What's your opinion on the German World Champion, S-Butcher ?
smaingerrard: I attended the WOrld Cup, and I think Butcher is a very strong player who abuses Zlatan particularly well.
nomomel: I followed the World Cup and Butcher is very very good. Spank could have won it but as usu_al in PES, it was very close. But he deserved it.

cia-clan.be » OTTr: Dont you think support of LAN play would greatly improve "lannability",like fifa
nonomel: Since we can play both on the same cpu, it's not necessary.

Wraith: Do you think that tournaments improve the lifespan of games, or do they have no effect?
smaingerrard: For sure. Without tournaments, the game is not the same at all.

What do you think of PES6, compared to the other versions of the game ?
nonomel: PES6 has been criticized by a lot of players, too many bugs, much too arcade-oriented, good...

PRESS CONFERENCE WITH PGS POKERSTRATEGY.CC
Event: Electronic Sports World Cup - Xfire at ESWC microsite
July 8th 2007
Location: Paris, France

Team PGS, from Poland, are right off the stage where they won the Electronic Sports World Cup 2007 Counter-Strike final, taking the World Title and USD 40,000 home. Following is the transcript for the press conference set up by Xfire.

Can you tell us a bit about the game?
Taz: For a start, we played train. We were confident as CT. We won the pistol. On nuke, I don't know what to say. We lost against fnatic, we lost T side. Something went wrong. I don't know what it was. NoA was amazing. On Inferno it was clear that every round counts and we played our game.

What would you want to say to your opponents. They played very well on the second map, their skill seemed to come to a new level on that map?
Taz: Of course, we respect them, they are a hard team. They were amazing, we really respect them.

To the PGS manager, you watched the whole game, what can you say about every one of your players?
To start from the left: Luq was a key player, a lot of important shots, neo was amazing in 1 on 3. Taz was amazing on nuke, kuben was nice, loord was another clutch player.

Based on this great victory here in Paris, what will be your next achievement?
We might come back to Poland and leave to game union next week. Next should be WCG. We will try to win it again.

A lot of teams will be waiting for you, will this change anything for your team or your mental state?
As far as I can judge it, that doesn't matter. we try to play our game and we need to stay focused. If we stay focused, we can do it.

I think that this year, ESWC was really Polish. What is so special with E-sport in Poland that made you so strong this year?
We have the best internet connection in the world. =)

To be honest, it's a lot of dedication .. avek (2007 Quake 4 Champion) is a skilled player and if you have a strong sponsor, you can go very far.

We brought this up on the last press conference, but just to...

PRESS CONFERENCE WITH SOJU & CREOLOPHUS
Event: Electronic Sports World Cup - Xfire at ESWC microsite
July 8th 2007
Location: Paris, France

Soju, from Korea, just won the Warcraft 3 Electronic Sports World Cup final, becoming the 2007 World Champion. He was facing Creolophus, from Norway. They both just came out of the stage to attend the press conference by Xfire.

You won the tournament this year. How does it feel? Are you happy?
Soju: I was planning on getting atleast top three, So I'm very very happy.

You lost 2:3. Did this make any change?
Soju: When I play with Creo I always get too excited and I make some mistakes, but when I played the final I decided to play just like I was at home, and that worked for me.

There were 3 Korean players in the roster this year. Was it easy to get to the finals?
Soju: Warcraft 3 players in Korea are normally good, and as we are coming to ESWC I was thinking that either me, Lucifer or Lyn would win.

You played both games today very aggressively. Were you confident to win today?
Soju: I didn't think that I was very confident, but since I know how my opponent plays, I thought as long as I played as if I played at home, and relax I was confident enough.

During the game you seemed to know where your opponent was going. Did you study his strategy?
Soju: I have studied a lot of Creo's replays, and it didn't change that much. I tried to come up with a strategy to counter Creo's strategies.

You always have hard matches. How did you feel today?
Soju: In tournaments I always lost against Night elves, I was really scared for that last night so I went on MSN to consult other players, and we came up with the perfect strategy for it.

One last question about the game: Was this your favorite map? Was the strategy from last night matching with the map? Did it work out?
Soju: Since it's Creo, I might as well do Night elf vs. Night elf, and that worked very well.

What are you going to do next and what are you going to do with your money?
Soju: I am planning on giving the...

PRESS CONFERENCE WITH TRACKMANIA NATIONS CHAMPIONS
July 7th 2007
Event: Electronic Sports World Cup 2007
Location: Paris, FRANCE

The Trackamnia Nations tournament at ESWC 2007 just ended. The top three finishers just got on the podium in the press room to answer questions from the media and Xfire users.

XeNoGeaR: Hi, I'm Freek Molema and I was the first place in the netherlands, and now I'm the first place in the world. So, it feels good!

The first question would be for the winner, so. How did it feel and how was the whole competition?
Freek Molema: It's still so early, I actually don't believe that I won. The whole final went well, in the winner bracket when I fell out with one point, that really demotivated me. And when I went on stage in the loserbracket I really did my best to come in top 2, and I won that one, and in the final I just drove good and won.

To Dorian Vallet: First last year, and second this year. Are you disappointed or still happy about your performance?
Dorian Vallet: Ofcourse I am still happy, and I was lucky this year. I went in the loserbracket and I succeeded in joining the Grand Final and finished second. And I am very happy.

To Simon Ferreira: So, you were the French champion, and during the final, was the pressure different in the French event compared to here?
Simon Ferreira: I really messed up the first round and the second round, at that time I was a little disappointed. Yet, I'm third, so it went good. The pressure was much more intense than in the French event. It was quite hard. I did my best but I am a little bit disappointed.

What would you all like to say to selrahc37 who ended up fourth in the competition?
Dorian Vallet: It was quite disappointing that we didn't see selrahc37 in the grand final, he is an excellent player and I wish him good luck and the best for the rest of the year. I hope he wins a title some day.

Freek Molema: It's really disappointing for selrahc37, he is really a great player and he did really well in the tournament. And well, he beat me...

PRESS CONFERENCE WITH PGS POKERSTRATEGY.CC
July 5th 2007
Event: Electronic Sports World Cup 2007
Location: Paris, FRANCE

Polish CS team PGS is the arch favorite for the Electronic Sports World Cup 2007. They just finished their first day of competition by crushing Spanish powerhouse x6tence on stage and they're now answering our questions.

How was the game? What did you think about your opponents?
Łukasz `LUq` Wnęk: Our opponents were good, but we were better.
Philipp `ryan` Kasprowicz: We had perfect conditions on stage, we felt more comfortable playing on stage than in an audience.

What do you think about SK not being here?
Philipp `ryan` Kasprowicz: I am sorry to see that SK didn't qualify, I'm not from ESWC and I can't say if it was right or not. I would have liked it if they would have been here.

What is your best skill/asset?
Wiktor `TaZ` Wojtas: Our best asset is shooting, we have very good aim, and I think mainly it's aiming.

Who do you think will be in the final?
Wiktor `TaZ` Wojtas We think that in the finals fnatic and MIBR or 69°N-28°E and aTTaX will meet each other.

What game will be the hardest?
Wiktor `TaZ` Wojtas : MIBR and fnatic will be the toughest.

We saw you playing a great match! How did you practice?
Łukasz `LUq` Wnęk: We practiced in Sweden before the game for about two weeks, before that we played for 8 or more hours each day.

We are starting with the xfire user questions now!

FrogMoN: What is the secret to become a CS pro?
Filip `Neo` Kubski: Just practice a lot! We play like 8 hours a day before a tournament. Even more when we are bootcamping. That's it, just practice!

You don't think you are gifted or something?
Filip `Neo` Kubski: We can be talented, but if you don't practice you won't become good anyways.

Infernuz: Do you have any special rituals before a match?
Wiktor `TaZ` Wojtas: We always try to stay focused regardless of who is our opponent, and I am listening a lot to music before the important games.

Infernuz: How did you come up with your clan name?...
