PRESS CONFERENCE WITH SOJU & CREOLOPHUS
Event: Electronic Sports World Cup - Xfire at ESWC microsite
July 8th 2007
Location: Paris, France

Soju, from Korea, just won the Warcraft 3 Electronic Sports World Cup final, becoming the 2007 World Champion. He was facing Creolophus, from Norway. They both just came out of the stage to attend the press conference by Xfire.

You won the tournament this year. How does it feel? Are you happy?
Soju: I was planning on getting atleast top three, So I'm very very happy.

You lost 2:3. Did this make any change?
Soju: When I play with Creo I always get too excited and I make some mistakes, but when I played the final I decided to play just like I was at home, and that worked for me.

There were 3 Korean players in the roster this year. Was it easy to get to the finals?
Soju: Warcraft 3 players in Korea are normally good, and as we are coming to ESWC I was thinking that either me, Lucifer or Lyn would win.

You played both games today very aggressively. Were you confident to win today?
Soju: I didn't think that I was very confident, but since I know how my opponent plays, I thought as long as I played as if I played at home, and relax I was confident enough.

During the game you seemed to know where your opponent was going. Did you study his strategy?
Soju: I have studied a lot of Creo's replays, and it didn't change that much. I tried to come up with a strategy to counter Creo's strategies.

You always have hard matches. How did you feel today?
Soju: In tournaments I always lost against Night elves, I was really scared for that last night so I went on MSN to consult other players, and we came up with the perfect strategy for it.

One last question about the game: Was this your favorite map? Was the strategy from last night matching with the map? Did it work out?
Soju: Since it's Creo, I might as well do Night elf vs. Night elf, and that worked very well.

What are you going to do next and what are you going to do with your money?
Soju: I am planning on giving the money to my parents.

Congratulations on your win here. Hope to see you again next year.

Creolophus is now coming for the press conference as well.

Creo, thanks for coming. Congrats on the second place. Introduce yourself please.
Creo: My name is Olav Undheim, and I am from the south west of Norway. I have been a professional gamer for a year now.

You've been ruling the competition. How do you feel now?
Creo: I am not too disappointed, I thought a lot about how many times I played Soju before. I counted 8 games, and I had won 6 before. Maybe I had used up my luck. He had studied me too much, I should have changed more than I did .

Before the match, you said that you've trained a lot last year. What changed during the training? When did you want to become World Champion?
Creo: I barely had time for anything else, when 4k asked if I wanted to join, I decided to join and take a one year break. Focus on gaming and see how good I could become. I came second, so it was pretty ok.

You said you will stop after this tournament. Why?
Creo: As I said, I took a one year break from school, and that year has now ended. And I am planning to go back to school. Even if I won ESWC it would be hard to continue gaming, since I got an apartment a few months ago. I will have to see if I can play some and still study, right now it's not really tempting to keep studying while gaming as much as you need to become a champion.

Will you try StarCraft2? / Are you excited about SC2?
Creo: Right now, I've had a lot of pro gaming, when SC2 comes out I will not try to play it competitevly. The competition will be so hard, you have to stop doing everything else and just concentrate on gaming. I will probably just play it for fun with some friends. It looks like a great game, but I won't try to make a living out of it.

How long do you train? How long did you play each day for this event?
Creo: I guess I played almost all the day, It's my job, but in addition to being a normal job it requires you to practice a lot more. If you want to become the best in any sport you have to practice a lot, I probably practice more than all football players around, basically the whole days before the tournaments.

What do you think about the ESWC?
Creo: Even though ESWC reduced its prizes this year it's still money, it's good to have when you want to continue your life and keep studying, there's also a lot of respect involved, I am really glad I made it. It's not just for the money, I'm really glad I came this far.

Thank you, congratulations on your second place. Maybe we won't see you next year, but if you change your mind and keep playing, please be there!
