Xfire Beta 1.78
2007-07-09 12:36 PM PDT
A new beta version of Xfire is available for testing. It will be live until roughly Wednesday, 7/11/07, at 6pm Pacific Time (that's 18:00 for you Europeans .

Download 78a.exe now. (link removed beta over)

Exit Xfire. Copy 78a.exe to your Xfire installation directory and run it to update your Xfire. If you don't know how to do this, then you probably should not be attempting to beta test Xfire. To verify that this worked, go to the Help | About box. The beta version of Xfire will report build 26986.

The major change for this update is better Vista support. Xfire no longer runs elevated in Vista, this should help with game detection.

Please restrict discussion of the beta to this blog thread. This is to help us track your feedback. We are interested in your experiences with the new beta, specifically anything that goes horribly wrong. Thanks for your help!

Tried out Company Of Heroes, xfire reports the game, but XIG doesn't work.

channels, downloads, screenshots, Skins, sounds, and templates folder as well as xfire.ini and xfire_games.ini all moves to the ProgramData folder fine.

Files still show up and link correctly.

I only have 3 games installed right now, all detected and launched fine before. They still do. Unreal 2004 worked before with ingame as well.

The other 2 games (Rappelz and Guild Wars) did not work before with in game(without the ini edit). But now work without editing the games ini.

Tested beta with UT2004 and HL2 Deathmatch. Files migrated correctly, but Xfire In-Game only works if I launch the game from Xfire. In-game still doesn't work if the game is launched separate from Xfire (which I think a good number of the complaints were about).

Quote from Lexi (alessia)Tried out Company Of Heroes, xfire reports the game, but XIG doesn't work.

From the game rig you uploaded on June 17th I see you have an nvidia driver from May 27th. Can you try with the newest driver? And let us know if your problems still exist? We're trying to reproduce internally here.

Company of Heroes runs elevated in vista. For this release Xfire will not be able to communicate with any elevated games. We are working on that. As a work around (I know it sucks) you can launch Xfire elevated and then run Company of Heroes, but then Xfire will not be able to communicate with any non-elevated games.

So far Xfire Ingame for CS:S worked somewhat.

I can see the Ingame Menus and my Friends list
I can see when someone messages me
When I try and start a chat with someone their name doesn't appear and my text and their text doesn't show up I'll take a screenshot In a few

EDIT: I tried again for a screenshot but it started working properly 0_o

Hi chad.

I've had 158.45 sence it's been released. I have UAC enabled, and running the game doesn't produce an elevation request; I also ran xfire with admin elevation and XIG still didn't work.

I also tried to run the game through the launch menu, xfire at default state and elevated state.

Also sorry, I forgot to say, Vista-32 bit.
