Blizzard has posted a Survival Guide for BlizzCon.

There was one thing missing from the guide, though.

As a veteran of fan conventions (albeit of the anime variety), I am acutely aware of how crowded these affairs can become. When large numbers of people convene in an enclosed space, not only do we get long lines, but we also get more unpleasantness, namely -- smelly people who are too excited about seeing everything at the con to shower each day.

Showering and using deodorant seems like common sense, right? Sometimes, unfortunately, enthusiasm can get in the way of common sense.

If you're going to BlizzCon, or any other convention, save your friends from public humiliation. If you sense the air around them becoming a little ripe, issue them a gentle reminder. The other attendees will show their thanks by not ridiculing you and your friends.

Did anyone else read this from the BlizzCon FAQ

Costumes may not include or otherwise utilize any edged weapons (such as knives, daggers, and swords); 'actual' clubs, maces, or other 'crushing weapons'; or projectile weapons of any kind, even if unloaded or nonfunctional (this includes firearms of any kind including airguns, long bows, crossbows, etc.).

I just don't know what to do with all of the BudK items that I just ordered... .



Any suggestions?

A little birdie told me that there will be some awesome videos coming out of the BlizzCon Movie Contest.

We have asked this question in the poll in the upper right hand corner of the event page, but we would also love to hear more from you. Add a comment to this post to let us know what you want to hear about from the convention.

With all the excitement surrounding Starcraft II, potential upcoming expansions to World of Warcraft, and the unknown third project Blizzard is working on, BlizzCon promises to be packed with news. On top of that the convention will have lots of contests (gaming, machinima, costume, dance, character sound-alike) that are going to take place.

For my part, I am excited about Starcraft II—it really is about time.
