So my computer won't start anymore.
After a long fight i find out its my power that has died. It takes a while but I get a new one and it seems everything is fine.
So after my birthday party i decide i could take a round with these new DDO quests i haven't done with my character 42.
After 10mins of gaming the computer crashes.
"Meh, not again" I think and reboot. It has happened frequently enough, but never been critical.
The computer crashes again with mixed pixels when i get to loading screen.
And again.
And it has done so ever after.
So looks like its perfect day to go postal.

So back to card game after long pause. Why i say card game? Well because that it is what is. After you have selected your powers and made them as cards, you slap 'em round after round on the table. With some additional dice rolling.

So there was lot of playing and lot of talking about game mechanics. Again. Surprisingly we noticed that D&D 4.0 world is not the same high magic, lethal Eberron as it was in 3.5. In old Eberron you could get your self killed by being in wrong place, in wrong time or just by being wrong or all three. Now it tingles down to dps. If we can do more dps than our opponent, we win.
I have to admit we had fun evening, night and morning while playing. Not from playing itself, but from the game and by being together. Its just so silly they ironed lots of bumps in 3.5ed and then they do a huge overhaul to completely new system. But as one of our group pointed out, we have paid for the books. Then again we have paid for the 3.5 books too. And there is big pile of 'em. And even bigger of 3.0 ones.
Although it was fun to see how our four man party played over 10h straight without one rest that would return daily powers.

So. After idling looong enough at BatMUD and noticing again how unbalanced the classes are and how fucking pointless it is as i can't get partys with the build i play, i decided to give this free DDO a spin.

Compared to over EU servers, there are 10x more people, they are 10x more noob and there is 10x more lag. Maybe i am a elitist or HC gamer but this is like moving over to noob land.

Was playing two-headed game with red white deck as a sidekick, me with usual black green one with stripped down to 275 cards or so.
Well we were down in the point where our opponents had this new landfall thingy going on where they put a 4/4 beast on table each time they get a land on table. And by the looks, there was lots of lands coming.
Well they were laughing and pointing at us that we lost as my partner had nothing on table and i had only 1/2 & 7/7 creature + one card in hand. As said, he had nothing on table and two cards in hand.
But.
He had not used any of his mana nor were the cards in hand creature cards.
So just before his untap phaze he dropped hefty 30 points of damage on opponent. Too bad they had only 16 left.

Lost seven games simply because i don't get enough draws from deck. Whats the idea of having +500 deck i can't get even 10% out of it before game ends?
And the silly blue decks i have been encountering last 10 or so matches. "discard card" "opponent draws tsiljon cards, then discards tsiljon cards" blaa blaa blaa. You can't win me with that, but you surely make me bored.

So we did some more testing with this new 4.0 Dungeons and Dragons to see how it fits this game group.

Well the combats were slow, the information about powers were scattered over five books, there was dozen or so of little things to be remembered on each round and attack, there was no real threat and game was lot more focused on DPR than on special effects.

So we won the fights quite easily as no healing was needed and only one daily power was used, but so was also the fights quite boring. In 3½ there was more real impact on effects like spells and feats ect. While in 4.0 you just hack and slash dropping minor penaltys or bonuses. In 4.0 you get 'Oh noes, i am blind for total of one total round' when in 3½ there was 'Crap, i am blind permanently. Time to get creative' or 'I got -2 to all attacks i do for rest of the encounter? Wow, maybe i should swift to flank then' vs 'I got permanent -6 on attacks? Ok, this needs some planing'.

DnD 4.0 is just WoW on paper.
Even the effects are similiary ridiculously over hyped. 'You shatter armor and bone with a ringing blow.' and you do like 30 points of damage thats maybe 1/5 of targets HPs? Uuu, scary. In 3½ the DM said how well the hit was done, so when your fireball ended up with all 1's you didn't get any 'A fiery red bead streaks from your finger to the spot you indicate, where it bursts into a great ball of magical flame.'. You did less damage than average commoner with axe, why are you making all that show down there?

Its been quite some time that i have been feeling the way i do thus 4.0 is for casual players where you can bang your head against obstacels few times safely and don't need to know anything before hand, you got enough HPs and healing surges to figure out how to win the fights. No one really shines out, regaldess of ammount of metagaming, classes, races, tactics or strategy. You just grind 'em to death with At-Will powers after you have dished out encounter powers and search for loot.
The 3½ is where there the advetures are and the...

Last night i made new personal record in every possible way while playing BF2142 in map Suez Canal as PAC.

I collected two pages of awards:

• Silver Star

24 kills in row.
132 points before rewards.
Best in my class (reconn), in my weapon type (zeller) and in vehicle type (battle walker).

And i can dare to say that my teams effort was the reason we won so clearly as we produced some serious presure behind the enemy lines.

Only sad thing was that i was not able to get a screenshot from the summarys.

Now the issue should be fixed and i am off to get a new record.

i need more time for school and real life.

Pulled DDO out of naftaline in December.
Seems some bugs have been ironed out and new ones have been implented. Errr features i mean.

I has now been a week since i started a new character and seems that you can whip up a level 8 character in a week/24h. That was bit suprising as i didn't focus on grinding exp and i spent time doign exp wise silly things like gaining slayer from WaterWorks. Simply gaining the quests in elite before exceeding the quests level was only thing i was aiming.

Still inspired by the idea of the warforged focused guild, i pulled Ohm back up and started to look where the old Forged In War members are. Based on the growth we have encountered, doing a WF only raid seems possible nowdays. Specially if we get co-op with the French WF guild 'mon pap le titan'.
