Playing the original Elder Scrolls game Morrowind, set in the Dark Elves (Dunmer) Home land, which you find you've awaken after an unpleasent naval trip, beside a welcoming prisoner Dunmer. Your escroted to an Imerpal(Human, more-or-else) prisoner processing building and set free, to do pritty much whatever you please. You'll find it links in more-or-else the same way in Oblvion. You awaken after making your charactor astetix: Looks, Race and those little things. Within the confindse of an Imperal Prison, with a very stuck-up Dunmer( This charactor has pre-defind words and phrases EG, Being a Female Dark Elf, he will ask to wether or not you wish to spend your final hours with him. Being an other Race, he will refer to the Sterotycal view of your race.) Obviously this is one hell of an advanced Engine. However through circumstanse and purely by chance you escape with no force against your captors. Instead, finding a new Cult of enemy to sink your blade or bash their heads in.
Obivion is propably the best render RPG with an immense Plot and storyline, with more history of Tamrelia (This is the Huge Island, made up of all the Races Homelands). And again an Elder Scroll RPG statification. Leveling not by Experience point, given on completion of quests or killing something, but by leveling up all your skills, From Blade and Blunt weapon mastory, to Light and Heavy Armour, to all those types of magic.
Your path, isnt entirely set... However in any game you cant do what you want down to the last detail, but Obivion does allow you to go off on your own way of completing the Missions and Quests, meeting new Friends and Enemies, Joining Guilds that give you more advantages throught out the game. Learning better and new abilities and skills, making a home for your self, as any city has a house open for sale. Also the new "Fast-Travel" is an interesting new feacture, allowing the player to jump to that location, with the right amoung of time. If helped to get around Cyrodil(The Homeland of the Imperals...
