War of Angels - Quick blurb
2011-06-12 6:26 PM PDT
I keep forgetting that this blog is here LOL. Ok after cbt on the *.com they shut off NA. so lost my toon there. But made one on the *.net. Over all the game is great. I love the graphic look, to me looks like those Aeon Fluxx type graphics, the long slender look, or to you even younger dudes, looks a lot like a scaled down version of Lineage.

Game play is pretty smooth and informative. has a great story line. I would highly recommend the game. The only thing that made me stop playing this one, was the drops. just about everything is dropped for 3-+5 levels higher than you are, so not only can you NOT use the weapons and armor, but you can't even craft anything til you reach the required level. As a matter of fact when you first start the game you cant even farm til level 10. So that's a little weird.

Controls are very easy to get used to, and movement is the usual wasd along with point and click and the "wow" double mouser Even at low levels you can fly (very slow) with the aid of a booster pack, and there are even quest to make use of this ability which I thought was a nice touch so you are not just using a booster to get around - but instead, it actually has a use. Last for about 4min. You do get wings at level 30. And they look good - so that part makes it feel like a generic aion, but I thing the story is better in WOA.

combat has some very nice animation (at least my toon did as a rogue)

However aside from the drops, this is a keeper. And I highly recommend anyone to take a little time and check it out. Leveling is a little slow, but I managed to make it to 20 in about 4 days of some serous game play.

Once you get into the game, you will find there is a lot here. Its just a little too off balanced for my taste. However with the extremely low population rate, There may be some out there that also agree.

Kungfu Online (Browser Game)
2010-05-11 4:39 AM PDT
I was starting to wonder if it was even possible to make a browser game that captured all the mechanics of a full blown client. I found one. Kungfu Online (KUNGFU ONLINE). I got really turn off by the massive "EVONY" clones on the net. The 3D games (i.e. Fusion fall, Earth Eternal ), while 'fairly' good just did not do the trick.
KFO has it all. bank, massive crafting system, guilds, pvp, (not sure about raids yet),unique "talent" system (Meridan). It also incorporates a "bot" system, called AUTOPILOT.

At first I was a little turned off on this, thinking "...omg, another GODSWAR". However, this one does not offset the balance. For starters there really isn't much xp for killing mobs (called "creeps" in KFO). You will find the auto pilot useful for farming, and killing quest mob so you can afk if need be. After all it is a browser game, not a 3d game so there is nothing really to watch cept for the scrolling combat text - which I might add, if you read it, is a mini story in itself.
Movement in the game is very clean. You have a main map with the various locations and cities. Just click to move, there will be a few seconds of paus depending on the distance from you to where you are going. Once at your destination, they have what they call "scenes". Just a series of locations (dots) with "links" that will put you to other locations. Hovering your mouse over any one dot, will tell you what NPC (or creeps) are located at that position and double clicking will take you there.

Your quest log, too his helpful. for a price (entegy or silver) you can simply click on where you need to go from your quest log to the destination) another nice feature.

Currently I am at level 22, and am still flooded with quest. I have not found a story to this game, but the tasks that the NPC's have you do or not boring and there seems to bee something always going on.

If you are looking for a good SOLID clean, well designed MMORPG for the browser...

This game looks very promising for a 2.5d game. Basically is like Gods War with better graphics and game play, as well as a very good story, quest system and most noteably the combat system. Sort of like MTG with stones. And the nice feature of there is no BOT system like Gods of War.
If you are a diablo II fan, you will definately want to take a look at it.

cons.
since it is new, it is one of the "laggiest" OB games I have played to date. but with the severe lag, it is still good enough to grind your teeth through it.!

Quick and Dirty Allods Review (CBT)

Ok. Jumped into this "most awaited game". Just like every other MMo out there. Summarized quickly: it is what you get when you marry WoW (smooth game play), Florensia(combining land and "ship" battles) and Aion(excellent graphics with tons of quest) all into one. the only difference, is there is no Auto-Attack and that can be annoying. The rest is good!!

GODSWAR

While I found the game enjoyable to play (I still play this while looking at other games), it is VERY out of balances with no incentive to train, enhance weapons or learn new skills. It is almost completely automated, with the player intervening occasionally to move the character to a new location. And with the built in "bot" system, it is almost pointless to play at all since it will fight for you too. HOWEVER, with all of this aside, oddly enough, its a blast to play. Even if you have never played a 2D game, this is the one to bite your teeth on. It has all the bells and whistles of just about everything ANY heavy gamer could ever want in any game...more

A comment about 2.5/2D MMO's
2009-08-05 6:11 AM PDT
Just so you know, it took me like a year before i actually played longer than 2min on a 2D MMO (for more information on 2.5/2D visit this link. First thing you need to do when playing a 2.5/2D mmo, is put yourself in the mindset that you will be playing a game utilizes graphics designed like NINTENDO (DS) and not something like WoW or AION! If you cannot distinguish between this detail (or just do not want to) YOUR MISSING OUT on some good games based on graphics alone. Once you have overcome this mental obstacle, you will see the game for what it is (i mean really, CHRONO TRIGGER is still #1 RPG of all time and its 2D! so popular in fact, that they adapted it for the DS in 2009!! Over 20yrs later!). Since these games do not rely heavily on graphics, their main emphasis is on game-play and content, so it is not uncommon to see the 2.5/2D games more popular than their 3D counterparts because of content alone that the behemoths do not possess(conan failed because of this).

FYI
2007-08-19 7:59 PM PDT
Ok just so you guys know. I have a soft spot for 'anime' games. I love the MMO's. And they're even better if they are free! So most of the games I look at have some type of anime. Then second it has to have good game play and user friendly game controls. and lastly must be a little more entertaining than the wow QUEST, KILL, LEVEL formula.

Just thought you might like to know. And yes sometimes I'll hang around in a game for a long time. Goonzu is a good example of this. dont let the cute grpahics fool ya. its a great game. no 3d panoramic view though. uhg

Basically your run of the mill hack and slasher. think of it as wow, but you only go to town to update your stuff and level, once done your back into your "instances". Fast play, right to the meat of every mmo. Lots of quest to do which is a bonus. Howver being free has its draw backs. Potions for instance you can only use the low level ones unless you register. There are tons of other little oddities like this, but I quit playing after 20 seeing how it gets pretty tough without spending real money. Yet its very tongue in cheek comedy (almost like monte python style). and just halarious.
