Playtime

All developers try to boast this, that their game is worth 100s of hours of gameplay, which is true, as long as they have multiplayer... but the thing that makes us want to play is the... attraction... all good games keep you addicted... mmorpgs, rts, fps, they all keep us addicted, like counter-strike or DotA... but some games just don't get it, like FarCry2.
It's repetitive with same mission types, large distances take time to travel, maybe thats what gives them to 100s of hours of gameplay but i just dunt like it D:
world in conflict, or maybe EndWar (obvious biasness) have a better gameplay time as its centered around multiplayer and a ongoing online WWIII, so that could keep going for years... maybe 100+ hours for those fan-boys...
the next is mmorpgs, they are very addictive, especially with friends, good example for me is cabal (83 hrs! almost be bf2142 :O) i got addicted to it... obviously... but they're problem lies in the updates, the game keeps getting bigger, the levels level up slower and levels are revealed to you in terms of years compared to the weeks when you were low level...(i dun play WoW but i expect that to be better)
The series i find most addicted to is the battlefied series... (84 hrs woot!) it does not have that global map or anything but the thing is its fun! its like being one of the soldiers in the rtt games, fighting WWIII from 1st person view... damn fun...
but the battlefield series has been along for quite awhile so maybe thats why its getting so much hours, maybe the next game could be world in conflict or EndWar (biasness again) since DICE cant seem to come up with new ideas for the battlefield series (e.g. battlefield 1943 !! ?? -.- battlefield 1942 ported to bf2 engine)
so this is purely imo so dun get mad...
