The Core 2 Extreme's run worse than the Phenom II X4's and are FAR more expensive.

Phenom II X4 or the new Core i5's would do better.

DDR3 of ANY rate would be a vast improvement over DDR2.

I would recommend a 360gb-500gb Hard Drive at 7200 RPM or a 250gb at 10,000 RPM. If you can afford a Solid State Drive then go for it.

The new king (this is an update because you posted before the 5000 series) is the 5870 (if you can get one). It's cheaper than the GTX 295 *at about $380-420* and faster. Terabytes are only used for STORAGE. Don't try to run a game off of it.
